2:00 PM CASE STUDY: Packaging Accessibility in Enhancing Consumer Experiences Through Convenience and Ease of Opening

44% of consumers struggle with packaging everyday,
taking an emotional toll on consumers who resort to tools
such as knives, scissors and screwdrivers that increase
the chance of injury as well as wastage. When packaging
can’t be opened, it presents a major barrier to consumers
being able to use the product it contains, with 21% of
consumers turning to competitor brands after negative
experiences. This presentation will discuss:
- Opportunities for companies to innovate and
differentiate their products through accessible
packaging and avoid unnecessary negative emotional
and physical impacts on consumers
- Accessibility as a strategy to target baby boomers, who
hold a significant share of Australia’s wealth, through
understanding their needs and abilities
- Recognizing and complying with Packaging
Accessibility Ratings, used in the Australian hospital
system
